A Dream

I dreamed a bright sun shining,
wind blowing through your golden hair,
delicate scents in the morning air.
Symbols of love were etched on a beach
we thought the waves would never reach.

I dreamed a full moon rising,
stars shining in the midnight fair,
whispered words in the moments rare.
Tokens of love in the jeweled night
are hopes now fading out of sight.

I dreamed tomorrow's promise,
abandoned myself to the slippery slope,
immersed myself in the ecstasy of hope.
Memories of love, a long-forgotten theme,
remind me, sadly, it was just a dream.
