A Million Tomorrows

In your eyes I could see
a million tomorrows never to be.
In your hands I could feel
a million hopes torn from reality.

A hard rain kept falling
heavy with the weight of years,
and the sky cried, and tears
were all I had to remind me
of a time, so long ago,
when we were young dreamers.

You took with you
all the hopes I held so close,
the dream I thought we shared,
the one thing I cherished most.
Now, I am wholly unprepared
to face the future alone.

The world is empty and cold
without you by my side;
and with your passing
the wind sighed, and I cried
a million tears you'll never know.
