Chasing Dreams
I've given up
on chasing dreams
a thousand times,
written endless rhymes,
but the effort to forget,
all the pain and loneliness,
is more than you could guess,
for such is my distress.

Everywhere I go
I see your face,
a subtle hint,
a fading trace,
your golden hair,
complexion fair,
and there,
your laughing eyes.

I realize
it's just a dream,
but real you seem,
so close to me,
and yet so very far.

So long I hoped,
so long believed,
I'd find you
wherever you are,

but time moved on,
and I knew I was wrong
to keep on
chasing dreams.
