Losing You

The sun woke me as I slept.
Morning's beckoning voice cried out
as I looked through the open window
to see the dawning of a new day.

It seems your absence
still casts a long shadow
over this lonely world of mine.

The sun rose, shining radiantly
like bright fire in dark skies,
like the sparkle in your eyes.

I heard the wind way up high
as it sang softly in the trees.
The scent of flowers filled the breeze,
brought back forgotten memories,
thoughts of you and yesterday.

The sun woke me as I dreamt.
You called to me, and your voice
echoed in the empty chasm
of my dreams.

Now every lonely night I spent
remembering your tenderness
burns deep into my consciousness,
a raging fire that can't be quenched
by the storm of tears I cried
over losing you.
