Dream's End

My dreams came falling down
into tomorrow's light;
dreams of the morning's glow
borne through the blackest night;
dreams of another world,
one where the sun shines bright.

Once, way up high, I flew
carried on lovers' wings,
soaring into the blue,
dreaming of wondrous things.

Now that you're back again,
my eyes are stung by tears.
You'll never share the dream
I dreamed through all these years.

Though I still love you so,
I know that you won't stay.
Words do not matter now.
There's nothing left to say,
and the dream I held so dear
has finally slipped away.
