The Dream Ends

I still see your face
the way it used to be,
your eyes enchanting me,
your smile, and desperately
I reach out into emptiness
through shreds of shrouding mist.
You left a part of me eclipsed
by the shadow of your absence.
I still hear the voice
which thrilled my senses.
I still feel the tension in your hands
as you reached out to touch me.
Fleeting moments we shared
were a lifetime hastily lived
in days that were too few.
The dream ends, and I awaken,
lost in an empty world, alone.
The dream ends, and I awaken
to begin again this life
I live in vain.
